Circular Economy
Environmental & Social Responsibility
Aluminium is the key to transition to a sustainable environment and circular economy.
Properties
By combining aluminium with elements to create alloys it can be obtained a wider range of properties -lightweight, durability, conductivity, formability –useful for its applications.
Aluminium is key element for transportation and automotive: lightness, strengths , durability, impermeability at the same time can help reducing global pollution in the future.
Circular Aluminium Action Plan
The Circular Aluminium Action Plan is the official act explaining the strategy for achieving aluminium’s potential for a circular economy by 2030.
It builds on the aluminium industry’s Vision 2050, focused on recycling and the EU’s objectives to reduce its CO2 emissions.
AMS shares the idea of Aluminium as a key driver in this transition to a climate-sustainable and circular economy; it’s vital metal, adaptable to a variety of products and combined with other elements creates alloys wth a wide range of properties can be obtained (lightweight, durability, conductivity, formability).
AMS promotes the potential of aluminium to help different sectors to achieve their own targets for CO2 emissions reduction; in particular transport and energy.
Moreover AMS ensures that scrap generated are high quality and recycled in a low Co2 emission for a sustainable world.
AMS shares the vision of low carbon and sustainable aluminium.
The European Union is determined to cut domestic GHG emissions at least of 40% by 2030.
This vision of 2050 is strictly related to the contribution of European Aluminium highlighting the different ways in which the sector is able to support to the EU mid-century strategy.
AMS is contributing for the conditions required to put the process of decarbonisation in practice.
- The aluminium recycling process requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce the primary metal, resulting in important savings in CO2.
- Aluminium is a circular material, can be recycled several times without losing its original properties.
- Aluminium recycling could reduce CO2 emissions by up to 39 million tonnes per year by 2050
